Remembering Philip L. Bertsch

Monday, we said goodbye to a friend, mentor, former manager and business partner.

Bertsch, Philip L., passed away, Thursday, May 19, 2022. Beloved husband of Anna Bertsch and dear father of the late Mark Bertsch. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Willow Bertsch.

He was born in 1933 in Salsbury, MO and spent most of his childhood on the family farm. Phil started his own business at the young age of 30 and continued to work until shortly before his passing.

Phil Bertsch was a legend in the recruiting business.

Founding Management Recruiters of Westport in 1975, Phil built one of the best recruiting firms in St Louis. Long time employee, recruiter and team lead, Jim Maxwell, succeeded Phil and formed The Neeljym Search Group (Formerly Known As Westport One (West)).  Phil trained many of the best recruiters in the industry and changed the lives of so many.

Never wanting the recognition, Phil supported many charities in St. Louis and across the nation. As an example, he supported the American Cancer Society’s transportation program that provides support to those needing to get to cancer treatments.
