Position Purpose

Under occasional supervision, support the administration of the company’s Hull & Liabilities underwriting structure. Oversee and monitor commercial accounts and account lines. Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies. Provide direction and mentorship to the underwriting team. Perform and monitor risk analysis and handle all aspects of underwriting new submissions.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the underwriting process for a designated group within a product line
  • Develop and implement marketing plans, including broker outreach and participation in industry events
  • Lead and mentor underwriting staff, supporting professional development and performance
  • Perform risk analysis and oversee monitoring processes
  • Analyze, evaluate, rate, quote, accept, decline, and bind new and renewal submissions

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, or a related field required
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in underwriting or a related field
  • Advanced degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

  • Strong analytical skills to support sound underwriting decisions
  • Effective communication abilities to present findings and recommendations
  • Leadership skills to manage and develop team members
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and underwriting software
  • Strategic mindset to enhance underwriting processes and performance
